| DOI (Digital Object Identifier) |
Bowker is pleased to offer DOI (Digital Object Identifier) registration and maintenance services. As both an identifier and a hyperlink, the DOI is a persistent entity that helps publishers greatly improve discoverability and marketing of their publications via the internet, while at the same time improving integration with other databases. The DOI system also provides a scheme for the unique identification of publications which have no other standard identifier, such as individual chapters and parts of books. By applying DOI numbers to individual items of content, publishers can easily identify and sell these items in e-commerce systems
